Baroness’ Championships

Baronesses Championship

The Spring Championship became the Baroness’ Championship in 1986, traditionally fought with shield and sword, axe or mace. The winner of the tournament is not necessarily the champion. That honour was decided by the Baroness and the ladies of the gallery and takes into account prowess on the field, courtesy, honour and chivalry. The Champion wore a short red cape (with the devices of previous champions), a leather baldric and the favour of the Baroness for the year until the next Championship which he or she had to run. The event was usually held in October.

The Baron and Baronesses Championships have now been combined into the Armoured Combat Championship.
