From the Baron and Baroness
Greetings to you all,
It is very pleasing to watch how the archery group is developing, after it’s near demise not so many years ago. Last weekend was the small but very enjoyable Jägerfest. Archers displayed their prowess in target, clout shooting, moving monster slaughtering, and lastly, hunting the feast ingredients. Some archers concentrated on shooting the sweeter ingredients such as cream, sugar, butter, shortbread, and fruits; while others concentrated on the protein side of things with cheese, wild boar and sheep. A good supply of the healthier vegetable options such as onions, carrots, neeps, cabbage, broccoli, mushrooms, beets, and spinach, along with bread and herbs and spices, rounded out the repast. Mistress Collette cooked up the hunted produce, and a most welcome feast was the result. Some hours of sitting round the campfire clutching hot mulled applejuice ended a most peaceful and enjoyable day.
During that event, Lady Curie was awarded a Fretted Goblet, for her service to the Barony.
The Succession plans are moving along, with a number of people expressing preliminary interest in taking on the duties. The window for applying for this position is now open. Nominations may be sent to chamberlain@innilgard.lochac.sca.org up until midnight 22nd June. You can find more about
this in this month’s Irregular.
Next month, all Baronial and College members will have the opportunity to comment on the suitability of the candidates for the Baronial Succession. But before that happens, there is another topic upon which Lochac is requesting your opinion.
Over the last few months there has been much talk on the possibility of whether it is time to change the method by which the Crown is chosen. A number of possibilities have emerged and a poll will remain open until 23rd June to shortlist the possible broad categories in order of preference. Naturally, keeping the current method of the winner of the Crown Armoured Tourney is one of the options. Every adult member in Lochac should have received an email with a personalised poll link which will only work once. If you have not received your link, or if there is any problem with it, please contact the working group on acwg@lochac.sca.org . You are very much encouraged to give your preferences through the poll. This is an important time for Lochac to decide which way we all want to develop.
This coming weekend will be the delayed Fretted Frenzy I, Sword and Shield, when we shall enjoy a picnic while watching sturdy fighters kill each other. (Naturally with the friendliest of intentions!) We hope to see many of you there.
Yours in Service to the Barony
Haos and Bryony
